Text Box: If you have joined in the last few months then you probably are unaware that we profile the gymnasts each month so that we can check that they are not falling behind in their conditioning. The results are available on the website in the Club Pages on a monthly basis for all to see.
This year I am only doing it for the younger gymnasts and have organised it into the best half and the needs to improve half.
The exercises we measure are from the BG targets published some years ago and are different depending on the gymnasts age. We look at 4 exercises:
Chins
Leg lifts on the stretching frame
Trunk raises
Standing jump
The aim is get to the BG target for your age. If you have a look at the website you will see there is much to do.
Top stars for January are Jade Hollick and Millie Jones

Text Box: Parent A makes sure that they are available when it is their turn and if they cannot help due to some other commitment swops their rota with another parent. Parent B works and cannot always come so sends a family member to help when it is their turn. Parent C has a bad back, but helps with other jobs around the club.
Last week we had 3 parents putting out and we did not get the kit out until approx 10.30. If we would have had complaints from our recreational parents and I had to give a refund it would be 70 gymnasts @ £3.00.
The parents who do turn up are getting unhappy, quite rightly. The biggest problem seems to be the week when the following parents are on:
Text Box: Stanyer, Hewitt, Leach, Lagrosse, Glover, Richards, Oliver, Cleaver.
I think some of these parents turned up the week before as there were a lot of parents that week.
This is our club, these are our children, all of us are the community. Take your turn.
I don’t know where to turn on this one. We not too strict on the weekdays as we know it is not always easy to get there for 6.00, but on a Saturday, once a month? I don’t like even having to write about this sort of thing, it’s much nicer to talk about competition success and new gyms.
There are not too many reasons for gymnasts being asked to leave the club, Mat shifting is one of them.
Text Box: There is a new Greater Manchester Website with a new address. Worth a visit at www.gm.ssog.co.uk/index.php
If you were at the grades then you will remember there was an official photographer from Flex Photography there and you can look at the photos from the competition on their website. It is all password protected and all the information was given out at the grades. The website address was:
www.flexphotography.co.uk
Continental have picked up the red turbo springboard for repair, at last. It should be back with us in a week or so. At the end of March we will have 6 new crash mats from Continental to replace the dark blue ones at the end of the ski-run. All part of the continual improvements.
