Recreational Classes at Dialstone Recreation Centre
Each Saturday morning at the Dialstone Recreation Centre the
club runs recreational classes for boys and girls between the ages of 4 to
18. The classes are popular and there is currently a waiting list, we have
taken less than 5 new members in the 2006 Autumn term. There is
an application form on the website but we recommend that if you are interested,
to visit one Saturday, have a free session and then put your name on the waiting
list.
Each girl when they first come to the club is given an
assessment to check their ability and which will be the best group for them to
join.

Session Organisation
There are 6 pieces laid out in the gym. They are bars, beams, floor, vault,
a ski run (tumble track) and rebound (trampet). Between April and October we
also have the use of 2 trampolines, although they are only used when the
trampoline coach is available. There are 9 groups of gymnasts
in each of the hour long sessions of the same sex, similar age and ability.
There are a range of ages in each of the sessions and 1 group of boys. Each
session starts with a warm up to music and then 25 minutes on one of the 6
pieces. The second 25 minute period is on a different piece. The rotation is
continued over a six week period.

The Club
The club is a private organisation and hires the Dialstone Recreation
Centre, as any user could. We are governed by a Constitution and are
affiliated to British Gymnastics, the sports governing body. All coaches
have been through some form of training to allow them to coach.
We have recently achieved Gym Mark, the sign of a child friendly
club. We have a child Protection Officer and the bulk of all the adult
coaches have been CRB checked.

Badge Scheme
We participate in the British Gymnastics Proficiency Scheme, which used to
called BAGA Badges. There are 6 badges which cover general gymnastics and a
further 6 more advanced badges which cover floor and vault apparatus. At
Christmas we run a competition open to all gymnasts followed by a disco and
party. In the Summer we usually take part in one of the local carnivals,
either Stockport or Hazel Grove.

Leisure Key

We support Stockport Council's Leisure Key Scheme and offer a 20% discount
on the cost of each lesson. If you have the card then please present it to
the desk when paying your fees. Unfortunately we are unable to offer any
discount on the British Gymnasts membership.
